All of the home’s carpentry including doors, decks and furniture is in Tzalam, a local wood quite dense and hard. Much of the interior is finished in a paste called Crema Maya which is a combination of acrylic materials and pastes and creates a marbling finish alluding to the locally quarried stone known as Mayan Cream or Macedonian marble. Other natural quarried pavements of the region were handmade by workers of the community of Dzitya here in Yucatan. Marbles, quartzes, and pasta mosaics of the region further characterize this house of unique and inspiring architecture.
This modern home has pressurized, heated and softened water which also passes through an ultraviolet filter for purification. The pool has a sand filter system, dedicated well, and some beautiful gargoyles that, besides helping to filter the water, beautify the 27 m2 pool and create soothing sounds. The pool, as well as the entire house, is illuminated with LED lighting for both longevity and energy efficiency.
